The NARM Training Institute Presents

Online NARM Basics Training

A Level 1 Professional Training that introduces
The NeuroAffective Relational Model

for Healing Complex Trauma

    Online NARM Basics Training
    Become a NARM-Informed Professional

We are excited to offer an online professional training in the NeuroAffective Relational Model® (NARM®), a unique and powerful approach for professionals who work with Complex Trauma (C-PTSD). This continuing education program is a psychoeducational training to support you in becoming more trauma-informed in your work.

NARM offers a comprehensive framework for addressing attachment, relational, developmental, cultural and intergenerational trauma, by identifying the survival patterns that cause life-long psychobiological symptoms and interpersonal difficulties. Supported by a greater understanding of the long-term impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), NARM has become a leading model within the Trauma-Informed Care movement.

Over the past decade, thousands of mental health professionals around the world have been clinically trained as NARM Therapists.  But NARM is also an educational model that can support other helping professionals working with Complex Trauma. We have been inspired by so many requests from individuals and organizations that in the Summer of 2020 we launched the Level 1 NARM-Informed Professional Training!

The intention of this online professional training is to make learning NARM accessible during a time when trauma-informed care is needed more than ever before.  Especially during this time of COVID-19, in-person professional trainings are not a viable option. Additionally, many professionals have not been able to attend our live events due to travel, financial or work considerations. This live online psychoeducational training is designed to make it more accessible for those of you in mental health, healthcare, addiction treatment, education, coaching, and other fields working with clients or populations dealing with Complex Trauma.

In this Level 1 NARM Online Basics Training, participants will learn more about the rapidly evolving field of trauma-informed care, a deeper understanding of the impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences and Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and how NARM, one of the first models specifically designed to address C-PTSD, can support you as a helping professional in addressing Complex Trauma.

Please note: This trauma-informed, professional training is not appropriate for those solely seeking a personal growth experience.

    Training Orientation & Mission

We appreciate that so many helping professionals work from a spirit of social justice and advocacy.  At the NARM Training Institute, we are also grounded in a strong commitment to addressing healing complex trauma as a vehicle for both personal and social transformation.  The vision and passion for our trauma-informed Institute is to introduce a more humane approach for working with complex trauma, which includes addressing attachment, developmental, relational, cultural and intergenerational trauma.  This also includes a strong commitment to promoting accessibility to the NARM model, creating a learning environment that supports diversity and fosters inclusion, and holding the intention to support connection and learning from each other.

We also want to be transparent with the intention for this Level 1 training so all prospective NARM training participants know what this training will provide and what it will not provide.  The Level 1 NARM Online Basics Training is a trauma-informed psychoeducational training and will provide an overview of the NeuroAffective Relational Model.  This Level 1 training is not focused on social or political activism and will not provide specific training in addressing the systemic failures that perpetuate complex trauma.  While we do acknowledge and discuss the origins of complex trauma emerging out of social systems and the legacy of unresolved cultural and intergenerational trauma, if your focus is in these areas, or you are wanting a trauma-informed training that will provide deeper training in these areas, we would encourage you to explore other trainings.

We recognize that every training participant has different needs around their learning process and goals.  We understand that if the NARM Online Basics Training does not deliver on what you are expecting that this could impact your learning process.  So we want you to have a clear understanding of the boundaries of this Level 1 NARM Online Basics Training.  This promotes clarity for us all.

While the Level 1 NARM Online Basics Training itself will not specifically focus on addressing these important areas of changing systems that maintain systemic oppression and inequalities, we do very much hope that our NARM-Informd Professionals will work in the many systems they are associated with and can use NARM to impact these systems for the better.  We support these efforts outside the Level 1 NARM Online Basics Training and are excited to be providing people with what we believe is a great psychoeducational model to promote real change.
