The NARM Training Institute presents the third webinar in our series on NARM and Cultural Misattunement.
NARM & Cultural Misattunement, Part 3: Exploring Unresolved Trauma Patterns for Therapists and Helping Professionals
NARM Therapist Claude Cayemitte, LCSW, CCTP
hosted by NARM Training Director and Senior Faculty Brad Kammer, LMFT, LPCC
In this webinar, we will further explore how the NeuroAffective Relational Model or (NARM) can support the exploration of unresolved trauma patterns for therapists and helping professionals when addressing cultural trauma. Cultural trauma, a significant yet under-recognized aspect of Complex Trauma, can contribute to misattunement in therapeutic relationships due to lack of diversity in the mental health field, the legacy of systemic oppression in many societal institutions, implicit bias, and specific culturally-based countertransference reactions within clinicians.
We will continue the conversation about the impact of cultural misattunement through a NARM lens by looking at the 5 survival styles and how adaptations can show up when addressing cultural and racial identity. The webinar will conclude by exploring actions clinicians and helping professionals can take to connect to authentic emotions that often arise in people when working with cultural trauma, specifically focusing on grief and anger. Additionally, we will explore how practitioners can plant seeds and nurture the ideas of unconditional love, humanistic values, forgiveness, humility, and post traumatic growth.
This webinar is pre-recorded, and the slides, a video recording, and a transcript are available for one year upon purchase.
